Kate’s Lazy Meadow. The Catskills (NY)
Kate’s Lazy Meadow is an “upscale” roadside motel & trailer park owned by Kate Pierson of The B52s. Located in upstate New York and a short drive from NYC, Kate’s Lazy Meadow is a fun, laid back joint on the Esopus Creek surrounded by nice views of the Catskill Mountains.
Kate and her artist and design friends have poured their hearts and kookiness into the retro designs and campy interiors of the 1950′s cabins, Airstream trailers, suites and shacks that make up the motel.
It’s a perfect spot for a weekend getaway where you can enjoy nature without losing your swinging city edge. You can hike, swim, fish, go tubing, canoeing or just sit there by a campfire. There is a natural pool and a tee pee with a sweat lodge on site and a farmer’s market across the street. The motel is also close to other towns like Phoenicia and Woodstock so you’ll have plenty to do and see. Check the Local Fun section of their site for more dining and activities to keep you busy. (A car is necessary!)
Weekend stays require a two-night minimum in the Summer and Fall and rates range from $175/night for a trailer for two to $550 night for the Lazy Lodge that sleeps six.
