Cliktrips likes the beach, palm trees, mountain hikes, desertscapes, forest walks, the jungle, tropical islands, swimming pools, lake swims, rocky seaside cliffs, sunsets, soundbaths, hot tubs, the occasional cold plunge, bicycle rides, road trips, spritzes of all kinds, lots of snacks and the colors pink and green. Cliktrips also enjoys late night techno parties, balearic rooftop hangs, weird weekenders, tropical sounds, trippy disco, and dancing ‘til dawn.

On our way up to Big Sur from LA, we decided to check out the scene and spend a night in Santa Barbara, CA.

We chose a small, 13 room, modern motel called The Agave Inn. It’s located on the main drag (State St.), and the renovated rooms are simple, really clean and decorated with a Mexican pop flair. They also have flat screen TVs, free WIFI, continental breakfast and some rooms even have kitchenettes.  The only slight downside is that it’s not walking distance to the beach and downtown, but it’s only a 5-10 minute drive, or you can use the bikes at their sister property down the road called the Presidio. Rates vary but our room was about $150/night including taxes.

The next day we headed over to La Super Rica for lunch. It’s a well-known Mexican spot on N. Milpas St. popular with food bloggers, Julia Child and way too many Yelp reviewers.  Luckily we arrived before Noon and managed to beat the dreaded long lines that seem to be the basis for the only real complaints about this place. They serve the usual tacos and burritos, but they’re known for their daily specials, so don’t forget to ask before you order! Luckily, I went on a Thursday when they were serving chilaquiles, which at La Super Rica loosely translates into nachos for breakfast since they use whole tortilla chips in their version of the dish.
