Cruising Around Bali with Elise Marie

Cruising Around Bali with Elise Marie

First things first: you might get the Bali shakedown. This is when cops bribe you. It happens mostly on motorbikes (highly recommend you rent one), but it also happened to my BF and I last time right when we got off the plane. Basically the cops tell you that you’re breaking some rule and that you can pay them off. You can haggle the price and most people will say you got suckered if you pay more than $5. For that reason, always keep your money separate, like all your money in one place, and then a small amount in another so you can be like “This is all I have.”

Ok moving on, Ubud is very beautiful you HAVE to eat at Locavore. You might need a res so make one ASAP because I literally dream of going back there. It is THE best restaurant I’ve EVER been to.

In Ubud I stayed at Hanging Gardens. It’s magical and amazing and has THE best pool in the world (literally rated Best Pool in the World) and it’s in the jungle. If you can at least visit, it’s worth the trip and the spa treatments are great.

Monkey Forest is great, but wear pants because the monkeys are wild and will climb up your body and I got scratched last time causing a rabies panic (they have rabies, but don’t bite). Also don’t buy bananas at the entrance because there are mean monkeys that mug the entrance banana buyers.

If you have time to go somewhere else go to Seminyak and rent a villa. It’s super cheap. In Seminyak go have a drink at sunset at Potato Head. It’s soooo rad. Go to brunch at Sea Circus and Sisterfields. Coffee at Revolver. Dinner at Rolling Fork.

For spa stuff, get foot massages at Chill. Also go to a Prana Spa. We did a couples package there that included a foot massage, body massage, head massage, facial, chakra aligning, and a milk bath in a giant sea shell shaped bathtub, plus they served us champagne and sandwiches all for like $80.

Ayana Resort and Spa is AMAZING. It’s a crazy place with private beaches and a bunch of restaurants and pools. We had a villa and a butler that gives you a cellphone just for him and he picks you up in a buggy and takes you wherever you want to go. Def check out their insta (@ayanaresort).

A day trip to Canggu is good too. There’s a restaurant called Dandelion that’s so good, and you eat in the backyard where they have 6 bunnies running around and you can pick them up and play with them.

Also “Champagne Bar” is a stupid silly champagne bar where all the workers are dressed like bellhops and if you get drunk they will drive you home in a scooter that looks like a Moët bottle.

Also important to know: everything in Bali is suuuuper cheap EXCEPT alcohol. So if you have a layover, buy some at duty free.
