FROM THE ARCHIVES

Austin’s mobile food scene is large and in charge and has really grown in recent years, so it’s nearly impossible to list them all in one place, but AustinFoodCarts.com does a pretty great job sorting through them.
This is by no means a comprehensive list, and if we missed anything great, please leave a comment and we’ll update the list. Also, please keep in mind that the carts tend to move around, so follow them on Twitter or Facebook to keep up with their locations.
Chi'lantro - Korean-Mexican influenced tacos, burritos and burgers. We’re also really interested in something called Kimchi Fries.
Torchy’s Tacos - Traditional taco truck fare including green chile pork, fried avocado and baja shrimp tacos, plus build your own breakfast tacos.
Cazamance - African influenced dishes like lamb burgers, curry vegetables with coconut reduction, and Moroccan lamb sausage with harissa.
Fried Green Tomatoes - Southern style dishes that all include fried green tomatoes like the pimento cheese sandwich (w/ fried green tomato) and shrimp remoulade, or you can order just tomatoes with a variety of dipping sauces.
The Mighty Cone - Serving up Hot & Crunchy “cones” of fried chicken, shrimp or avocados made with sesame seeds, almonds, chile flakes and sea salt with a side of chili dusted french fries.
Fat Cactus - Navajo Tacos are served with either chicken, beef or veggies, but we really want to try the Chilada fry bread pizza served with New Mexico red chile sauce, ground beef and cheddar.
Odd Duck Farm to Table - Serves up locally sourced produce and meats utilizing the whole animal nose to tail. The menu changes daily based on what’s available. The chef is currently up for Food and Wine’s “The People’s Best New Chef: Southwest.”
The Texas Cuban - Hot, Cuban style pressed sandwiches served with plantian chips.
Gordough’s - The craziest donuts you’ve ever tasted with ingredients like bacon, fried chicken strips, and habanero pepper jelly (not all on the same donut).
Turf n Surf Po-Boys - Farm raised fried shrimp and catfish dishes and free range chicken po'boys and various other surf and turf specialties with lots of fixin’s and sides.
Sushi Box - Maki rolls, nigiri, salads and fresh, healthy Japanese food. We want to go just to see the renovated, design friendly shipping container they use as their “cart.”
Old School BBQ & Grill - Chopped brisket sammies, steak burgers, Texas jalapeno hot links, and ribs served out of an old yellow school bus.
Along Came A Slider - Gourmet sliders like chicken and waffle, chicken fried guacamole, and barbacoa styles and sides of house made fries.
Me So Hungry - Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches, noodle dishes and fresh spring rolls.
