Cliktrips likes the beach, palm trees, mountain hikes, desertscapes, forest walks, the jungle, tropical islands, swimming pools, lake swims, rocky seaside cliffs, sunsets, soundbaths, hot tubs, the occasional cold plunge, bicycle rides, road trips, spritzes of all kinds, lots of snacks and the colors pink and green. Cliktrips also enjoys late night techno parties, balearic rooftop hangs, weird weekenders, tropical sounds, trippy disco, and dancing ‘til dawn.

New York City has no shortage of hip hotels, so it takes a lot to stand out from the pack, especially in a city this large. The Ace Hotel in New York opened a few years ago and quickly established itself as a music-friendly hotel and a traveling artists’ best friend with its laid back focus on local music, art, food and good old hospitality.

The communal lobby is relaxed and each night a rotating cast of local DJs keep the vibe going with a mix of indie, disco, minimal techno, soul and rock music. Past guests include My Cousin Roy of Wurst Music, James Friedman of Throne of Blood, Modular Records DJs, Ilrijana of The Pop Manifesto, and Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem. The Ace also hosts a number of parties, live music and film screenings so check their events page for updates.

With rooms types ranging from bunk beds to loft suites, there’s a place for everyone, and every budget, to call home. In keeping with the Ace Hotel brand (there are sister properties in Portland, Seattle, Palm Springs and soon to be LA), the hotel commissioned local artists to design the artwork for the rooms and used vintage furniture to create a unique sanctuary for the weary.  Some of the rooms even have custom Gibson guitars and turntables with a selection of new and used vinyl to keep you company.

They also serve Stumptown coffee in the rooms and lobby, and there are a few excellent restaurants on-site like the Michelin-starred restaurant, The Breslin and the seafood friendly John Dory. Plus, with free WIFI, room service and a gym, you can’t really go wrong.
